Gov. Whitmer budgets for correctional facilities in fiscal year 2026
LANSING, Mich. (WLUC) - Lawmakers are still concerned about a lack of staffing at correctional facilities in the U.P. On Thursday, the Whitmer administration answered lawmakers' questions about the next budget. Michigan Department of Corrections Director Heidi E. Washington says the Marquette Branch Prison and Alger Correctional Facility are severely understaffed with about 30% vacancy rates.

I feel these people are complaining about their town roads. However, those roads get fixed by the county, not MDOT. I live in a bedroom community that has very few businesses. We had a sewer tax that was expiring and voted to keep the millage going but put it towards repairing or replacing our township roads.
